As of September 1, 2010, new State laws require recycling of electronic items. The Wisconsin DNR has additional information about the new recycling program, called E-Cycle Wisconsin
The law bans certain electronics from Wisconsin landfills and incinerators, so you may no longer dispose of these items in the regular trash.
The law covers electronics such as computer monitors, computers and printers, laptops, computer perihperals such as mice, speakers, scanners and flash drives. Other items that must be recycled include fax machines, DVD players, VCR's and TV's. This law applies no matter who purchased or used the item, so households as well as schools and other users must comply.
